Grey Abbey became poor and decayed during the late Middle Ages and was dissolved as an abbey in 1541. There are information boards throughout the grounds to explain what each of the buildings might have been used for. When it comes to exploring various ruins, it is surprising how some excellent places like this are free to enter and others can charge around £5 or more.
